A6stmct-The Quick Paging Channel has been proposed as a method to significantly improve t h e standby times of t h e phones for the 3 6 systems. This paper looks at a way to p u t this common channel in soft handoff, thereby improving the reliability, and leading to a better standby time for the cdma2000 phones. Both the physical layer, and network implications are analyzed in detail.
